origin... i was born in
february towards the end of the cold war in the city of saint petersburg.
i discovered photography in my preteens and fell in love with the medium and the process.
along with my family i moved to the united states in 1995 and i currently reside in the state of new jersey.
education... i completed my
undergraduate studies at rutgers university. after working briefly
in the private sector i began pursuing photography again as a
personal creative outlet.
passion... my first camera,
with help from my uncle, was made out of a milk carton and
produced negative images on photographic paper. shortly after
receiving a plastic range finder camera i was fortunate to
capture images of the demonstrations preceding the first
democratic election in st. petersburg's city government. the
images were displayed as part of a collective exhibition of
young russian photographers in a series entitled "for and
against." over time my interest evolved to the highly stylized
genre of advertising photography but i still believe that my
best work is produced when i photograph people.
